  • 20200701Pete Moore formerly the Assistant Head of School and Head of Lower School at Lake Forest Country Day School, began his first day as Head of School at Davidson Day on July 1st. Mr. Moore started his teaching career in Sydney, Australia, continued to teach at Nueva School in California, and was the Assistant Head of School at the Chinese American International School in San Francisco, which has multiple campuses. His Master of Education degree is from the University of Sydney, and he holds BA degrees from the University of New England and the University of Wollongong in Australia.<br />

He has been taking students to Belize on archaeological expeditions since 2006. He added Zorita Castle to the DDS/AFAR expeditions in 2014. The Spain project is unique in its combination of archaeology, arts, and building community among cultures.This summer meant full productions of both a play and a concert for the Spanish community in two locations - the 9th century Zorita Castle and The 12th century Ucles Monestary.<br />

Mat Saunders, 38, archaeologist and member of Davidson Day School’s faculty, is the founder and director of American Foreign Academic Research (AFAR), now operating under the umbrella of the school. He has been taking students to Belize on archaeological expeditions since 2006. He added Zorita Castle to the DDS/AFAR expeditions in 2014.
